January 12, 2015 Deadline for NIOSH OMSHR Funding Opportunity

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) Office of Mine Safety and Health Research (OMSHR) is seeking concept papers for the modification or final development of new mining safety and health technology. Under this Broad Agency Announcement, proposals related to all mining health and safety issues are welcome, including surveillance or predictive information that could produce useful data for identifying future technology needs. High-priority topic areas include • remote detectors for methane gas; • intrinsically safe absolute pressure sensors for mine atmosphere; • economically viable stopping/door systems for built-in-place refuge alternatives; • permissible, non-invasive rock property tools; • compact, high-capacity dust collectors; and • reduced noise fans for use in underground mines. Visit the OMSHR Funding Seekers web page for more information and links to specific requirements and the online application. Responses will be accepted until January 12, 2015, and any questions can be directed by email to Cynthia Y. Mitchell, Contracting Officer (akq9@cdc.gov). Please consider submitting a proposal!
