Akhil Datta Gupta

AIME Rossiter W. Raymond Memorial Award in
1992

For the paper "Accurate Resolution of Physical Dispersion of Multidimensional Numerical Modeling of Miscible and Chemical Displacement"

Akhil Datta Gupta is currently on leave from BP Research to pursue a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to BP Research. he worked with BP Exploration, Alaska, where he was revolved in various aspects of reservoir development and enhanced oil recovery for the Prudhoe Bay oil field.

Mr Gupta holds a B.S. from the Indian School of Mines and an M.S. from the Unversity of Texas at Austin, both in Petroleum Engineering His research interests include reservoir characterization. simulation/numerical analysis, enhanced oil recovery and underground contaminant transport. He has published several papers in the area of numerical modeling of miscible and chemical flooding, higher order schemes and heterogeneity effects on process performance. He developed the first three dimensional version of UTCHEM, a multiphase, multicomponent chemical flooding simulator widely used by the oil industry and universities.
