AIME Frank F. Aplan Award in
2018

In recognition of the development of X-ray tomography in the 3D characterization, analysis, and simulation of multiphase particulate systems for coal and mineral resources.

Chen-Luh Lin. is a Research Professor at the University of Utah. His research interests include applications of X-ray microtomography (XMT) to characterization and quantitative analysis of particulate systems for coal and mineral resources, mineral exposure analysis for heap leaching operations, fluid flow through the porous media, on-line size analysis, and mineral liberation. Prof. Lin has significantly contributed to the design, acquisition, installation and operation of a unique X-ray micro CT facility. This state-of-the-art facility is used to research various areas including mineral liberation/exposure analysis and filtration and fluid transport studies. Software tools had been developed by Prof. Lin for the 3D characterization, analysis, and simulation of packed particle beds using high resolution X-ray micro tomography (HRXMT).
