Joseph A. Laslo (AIST)

AIME J.E. Johnson, Jr. Award in
1975

For his demonstrated ability to relate to both research and operating personnel and his efforts toward the understanding of blast furnace control, the effects of burden sizing on furnace performance, and his contribution to the developments made at the Bruceton Experimental Blast Furnace.

Joseph A. Laslo is Research Supervisor, Blast Furnace Control at the Homer Research Laboratory of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He is a graduate of Lehigh University receiving his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering 1957 and 1967, respectively.

Mr. Laslo assumed his present position in 1967 after serving as Operations Engineer and Research Engineer during which time he was the industry's representative on the Bureau of Mines experimental blast furnace program.

Mr. Laslo is a member of AIME and the Eastern States Blast Furnace and Coke Oven Association.
