Lawrence B. Curtis (SPE)

AIME DeGolyer Distinguished Service Medal in
1985

In recognition of his many years of exceptional and devoted service to the Society of Petroleum Engineers and AIME, for his distinguished contributions to the petroleum engineering profession in general, and for his exemplary leadership through work with various state, national, and international groups.

Lawrence Engineering President of Conoco Inc. in Houston. Mr. Curtis holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. An active member of SPE and AIME for many years, Mr. Curtis chaired the 1962 SPE Editorial Review Committee and the 1966 Annual Meeting Management/General Interest Technical Program Committee. He was an SPE Director beginning in 1967, served as the 1971 SPE President, AIME Vice President in 1972, and was a 1975 Distinguished Lecturer. Mr. Curtis was a 1979 member and 1981 Chairman of the John Franklin Carll Award Committee, and a 1984 member of the Public Service Award Committee.
