Madhu G. Ranade received his bachelor of technology degree in metallurgical engineering in 1975 from the Indian Institute of Technology. In 1977 he received his master's degree in materials science and engineering from the University of California. Upon graduation he joined Inland Steel's Research Laboratories as an engineer. He is now section manager of raw materials and ironmaking research.

Mr. Ranade has authored 14 publications served on American Iron and Steel Institute technical advisory groups and conducted a workshop at the University of Minnesota. His research work has involved iron ore agglomeration, blast furnace ironmaking and alternate Iron and steelmaking processes.
