Robert E. Boni was elected Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Armco Inc. in 1986. His undergraduate studies in Metallurgical Engineering were completed at the University of Cincinnati in 1951. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.

Dr. Boni joined Armco's Research and Technology Center in 1956 as a Research Engineer in its Melting and Refining Group. He served subsequently as Manager of Applied Science. Director of Metallurgical Research and Assistant Vice President before being elected Vice President-Research and Technology in 1976. In 1978, he was elected Group Vice President of Armco Material Resources and Strata Energy. In July 1980, he assumed the added responsibility for Armco's six steel divisions in the U.S. Early 1n 1982, he was elected Chief Executive Officer of the Steel Group, and later that year he was elected Executive Vice President and Armco's Chief Operating Officer. He advanced to President and Chief Operating Officer in 1983.

Dr. Boni is presently serving as Director on the boards of Armco and North Carolina Central University Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie-Mellon University. A recipient of the University of Cincinnati Distinguished engineering Alumnus Award in 1970, Dr. Boni is listed in American Men of Science and Who s Who in America.
